Surprise viral pop star Kylie Jenner gave what may be her last free “Rise and Shine” performance last night at her and Kim Kardashian’s joint KKW Beauty and Kylie Cosmetics holiday party. The billionaire makeup mogul took the mic, asked the audience, “Does everyone have their phones? Here we go,” and then sang “Rise and Shine.”
There was no Justin Bieber this time, but Jenner is aware of her worth. She quipped after to the crowd, “That’s it. Next time I’m getting f*cking paid.” You don’t become a billionaire without knowing what will make money and making sure you profit off it.
Jenner last sang “Rise and Shine” with Justin Bieber at his charity art event last weekend. Bieber sang it first, then encouraged Jenner, who was in the crowd, to do her own rendition. She obliged and came up to the mic to support her longtime friend. The crowd went crazier for her singing for two seconds than they did for him performing his top hits acoustically.
Bieber isn’t the only pop star to do a cover of “Rise and Shine” though. Ariana Grande did too when the moment first became a meme on Twitter and asked Jenner for permission to sample the song in a future track. Jenner granted it on one condition: “Yes, yes you can @arianagrande. As long as I’m in the music video.”
Jenner then proceeded to make “Rise and Shine” merch she sold on her site. The clothing quickly sold out, but good for Kylie, stretching this out two months longer than most people ever imagined she would.
