Taylor Simone Ledward Gives Gorgeous Tribute to Late Husband Chadwick Boseman at 2021 Golden Globes

At the 2021 Golden Globe Awards, Chadwick Boseman became the first actor since 1976 to win a posthumous Globe for his role in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. The beloved actor behind such legendary films as Black Panther died in August 2020 of colon cancer. He was 43.

During the unorthodox Globes event, in which some presenters and nominees attended in person while others joined via video conference, his wife accepted the award on his behalf. Her powerful, heart-wrenching speech prompted tears in Boseman’s fellow nominees as well as audience members watching at home.

You can watch and read her speech below.

He would thank God. He would thank his parents. He would thank his ancestors for their guidance and their sacrifices. He would thank his incredible team…He would thank his team on set for this film.

He would say something beautiful. Something inspiring. Something that would amplify that little voice inside of all of us that tells us that you can, that tells you to keep going, that calls you back to what you are meant to be doing at this moment in history.

He would thank Mr. George C. Wolfe, Mr. Denzel Washington, lots of people at Netflix. He would thank Miss Viola Davis, Mr. Glynn Turman, Mr. Michael Potts, Mr. Colman Domingo, Miss Taylor Paige, Mr. Dusan Brown.

And I don’t have his words.

But we have to take all of the moments to celebrate those we love, so thank you, HFPA, for this opportunity to do exactly that.

And honey, you keep ‘em coming. Thank you.
