When normal people go to soccer games, they might wear team colors on sweaters or scarves. They might also wear foam fingers or paint their faces or, if they’re feeling frisky, their whole bodies. When Rihanna goes to a soccer game, she raises the sartorial stakes to a whole new level.
When she attended the UEFA Champions League soccer match at Allianz Stadium in Turin, Italy, on Tuesday, the musician and fashion mogul carried a Louis Vuitton monogram-covered soccer ball. The ball, which is secured by light-brown straps and has a handle like a purse, is, in fact, not a purse.
Per Page Six, the print on the ball is from a limited-edition ball made for 1998 World Cup in France. It’s available online right now for $2,800 (down from $3,500), in case you still have some Black Friday money burning a hole in your pocket—pause for laughter.
Rihanna and her brother Rorrey Fenty were reportedly at the game to cheer on Juventus Football Club in their game against Atletico Madrid. Besides the eye-catching designer ball, Rihanna was properly outfitted in a Juventus jersey that has “Riri” printed on the back.
The jersey is black, but the rest of her outfit seemed to be centered around the fancy ball; she wore a complementary monochromatic brown outfit from her Fenty clothing line. Rihanna’s sweatshirt, shearling jacket, and scarf looked as if they were designed to exactly match the decorative orb hanging off her hand.
When it gets down to it, it doesn’t really matter who was playing. It’s all about Rihanna and her $3,000-plus soccer ball.
