“You know, love has taken me to some pretty dark places.” Penn Badgley’s Joe opens the You season 2 teaser trailer with the understatement of the decade. He adds, “Los Angeles has got to be as dark as it gets.”
In the minute-long teaser, Joe, who has fled New York after his salacious stalking attempts of writer Beck (Elizabeth Lail), expresses his discontent with Los Angeles. He surveys a coffee shop, airing his grievances over the false veneer of people’s lives. It ends with Badgley giving the name “Will” for his coffee order, suggesting he’s shedding his identity as Joe Goldberg and eyeing a new target.
In addition to Badgley, the second season’s cast will include Victoria Pedretti (Love Quinn), Ambyr Childers (Candace Stone), James Scully (Forty Quinn), Carmela Zumbado (Delilah Alves), Jenna Ortega (Ellie Alves), and Chris D’Elia (Henderson). An official description of the second season gives insight into Joe’s current mindset:
When we last saw Joe (Penn Badgley) his heart was tragically broken and his past just caught up with him in the form of long-lost ex-girlfriend Candace (Ambyr Childers)—a woman now hell-bent on teaching him a lesson. Season two finds him on the run from Candace—leaving New York City for his own personal hell: Los Angeles. He’s fresh out of an intense relationship that ended in murder. The last thing he expects is to meet an incredible new woman but he’s falling in love again—with a woman named Love (Victoria Pedretti). Is history repeating? Or will this time be the real thing? Joe’s just crazy enough to risk finding out.
Ten new episodes of You will drop on Netflix December 26.
