Are we really going to see the Justice League Snyder Cut? Zack Snyder is continuing to tease his original version of Justice League. The director has just revealed a new image of the villainous Darkseid from the Snyder Cut. This isn’t the first time that Snyder has shared an image of the villain, but it comes at a time when the director has been releasing multiple images on a daily basis. This past weekend marked the second anniversary of Justice League hitting theaters and the Snyder Cut fans were out in full force, along with Snyder and the movie’s cast.
Gal Gadot and Ben Affleck both called for #ReleasetheSnyderCut over the weekend, which had Justice League fans flipping out. Now, Zack Snyder’s newest image of Darkseid should go a long way in getting people pumped. “That time in January 2017 when Diana came face to face with Uxas for the first time,” Snyder captioned the photo. We see Gadot taking part in an ADR session looking at the villain on the screen. While the image appears without context, it does tease more of what Snyder originally had in mind for the movie.
Darkseid was originally going to have a pretty big role in Justice League. While the image is a bit small, it is probably our best look at the villain to date and upon further inspection, we can also see a time stamp that puts the scene at about the one hour and ten minute mark. Since Gal Gadot is there, we can assume that this is during the history lesson portion of the movie, one that would have put greater emphasis on Darkseid. The Snyder Cut looks like it would have been a more complex movie than what ended up on the big screen.
The Snyder Cut trended on social media all weekend in celebration of the two-year anniversary of Justice League. Leading up to the weekend, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, and Ezra Miller started releasing black and white images from the original cut of the movie. Each actor stood behind Zack Snyder and may have even gotten the images from him, as he was sharing the same type of black and white visuals. Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot also joined in on the fun over the weekend.
So, the real question now has to do with all of these Snyder Cut images. Is Zack Snyder sharing the new photographs because it’s been two years, or is he teasing something much bigger? Many are under the assumption that Snyder is preparing to release his version of Justice League on HBO Max early next year, while there are others who believe this is not the case at all. A new report citing insiders say that Warner Bros. has no intention of releasing the Snyder Cut, so we’ll just have to wait and see.
