Quick, someone break out some candles, a few sticks of white-colored chalk, and clear some space for a good old fashioned summoning, because THE NEW MUTANTS director Josh Boone has confirmed that a new trailer for his horror-tinged X-Men film is poised to be conjured from the depths of development hell on January 6, 2020.
Boone recently confirmed the arrival of a new and polished trailer for THE NEW MUTANTS, courtesy of his personal Instagram account. Along its arduous journey to the big screen, THE NEW MUTANTS has experienced a myriad of setbacks, including release date delays, creative upheaval, and having to wash the stink of X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX from its X-gene-infused skin. Oh, and don’t even get me started with regard to how Disney’s purchase of 20th Century Fox mucked with the film’s production, otherwise we’ll be here all night.
Directed and co-written by Boone with Knate Lee, THE NEW MUTANTS stars Henry Zaga as Roberto da Costa a.k.a Sunspot; Blu Hunt as Danielle Moonstar; Alice Braga as Dr. Cecilia Reyes; Anya Taylor-Joy as Illyana Rasputin a.k.a. Magik; Charlie Heaton as Sam Guthrie, a.k.a. Cannonball; and Maisie Williams as Rahne Sinclair, a.k.a. Wolfsbane.
What’s got me excited about the upcoming trailer is the fact that it was personally curated by Boone, who looks to have had some help from his New Mutants team while putting it all together. It stands to reason that Boone will want to restore faith in the project by presenting a new and killer promo for the film, so here’s hoping that X-fans respond well to what feels like a long in-the-works tease for a more haunted X-verse.
THE NEW MUTANTS will open in theaters on April 3, 2020.
