Is there anyone else you’d want by your side during a global disaster other than Gerard Butler? The man has braved legions of Persian soldiers, North-Korean invasion forces, and global superstorms, and his latest disaster thriller will pit him against a planet-killing comet. GREENLAND finds Gerard Butler starring as John Garrity, a man who embarks on a perilous journey to save his separated wife Allison (Morena Baccarin) and son Nathan (Roger Dale Floyd) when the fragments of a comet threaten to level cities and destroy all life on Earth. GREENLAND comes from director Ric Roman Waugh, who just so happened to have directed Gerard Butler in last year’s ANGEL HAS FALLEN, the third film in the FALLEN franchise following OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN and LONDON HAS FALLEN.
The official synopsis for GREENLAND:
A family struggles to survive when a comet rages against the earth. John Garrity (Gerard Butler), his separated wife Allison (Morena Baccarin) and son Nathan embark on a perilous journey to their only hope of safety. While several cities around the world are leveled with the earth from the comet’s fragments, the family experiences the best and worst humanity can offer, while battling the growing panic and lawlessness around them. As the countdown to the global apocalypse approaches zero, their last chance is a desperate flight to a possible safe haven.
GREENLAND is slated to hit theaters in the U.S. on June 12, 2020, followed by an August 21, 2020 release in the U.K., but given the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, it’s likely those dates will change.
